A recurrent feature of Anderson’s movies is the insertion of chapter partitions in which the film is divided through title shots. The title sequence of The Royal Tenenbaums opens with a physical book of the story narrated in the film being checked out at a library. It is followed by a handwritten message on a card and the title shot of the prologue set as a book page. This is an exemplification of a creative way to use graphic props as an informational device through the enrichment function, by giving information about the story that will be narrated while introducing it to the audience.
