After the tragic events in Hawkins, the high school becomes a place where the community comes together to support those affected. Its gymnasium is covered with flyers for missing people, with particular attention given to those dedicated to Eddie Munson, whom the town believes to be a brutal murderer. The defaced flyers reveal the hostility towards him and prompt an emotional conversation between Eddie’s uncle and Dustin, who reassures him that Eddie was a hero. In this way, the flyers introduce information that is not otherwise conveyed in the scene, establishing the community’s attitude towards Eddie and providing the basis for the subsequent dialogue.
