The heart of the city is filled with signs, which suggest the setting of the story: a retro-futuristic American Southwest of the 1950s, by orienting the viewer and making continuous references to extraterrestrials and UFOs. The lettering was handmade to maintain the authenticity of the 1950s period, when technology didn't exist, so digital fonts wouldn’t have been used. Therefore, the hand-lettering was based on the styles that signwriters copied at the time.
