The Air Zan 1200 is a fictitious hairdryer commonly used in the 1980s. While apparently meaningless, it’s an important detail in a crime scene photo of the time, being analyzed in the present day, that will solve the victim’s mysterious cause of death. The advertisements are designed and presented in cutaway shots, separated shots from the main action to indicate something else, like a place or objects of interest. In this way, the viewer is able to follow the detective’s argument of why the cause of death is an electricution cause by the Air Zan 1200, which did not have the safety features of modern hairdryers.
